Recovery rarely happens in one lane
People may use medical care, peer groups, community programs, trusted relationships, and counselling in different combinations. The right mix can change over time.
Counselling can focus on stress, shame, relationships, past experiences, and the everyday choices that support the direction you want to move.
Counselling is not emergency or medical care
A counsellor does not provide detoxification or prescribe medication. If withdrawal, overdose risk, or immediate safety is a concern, urgent medical or crisis support is the right first step.
You do not need a perfect record to ask for support
Setbacks can bring shame and secrecy, which can make connection harder exactly when it is most useful. A counselling conversation can begin with where things are today and what kind of support would make the next step more possible.
